Venge!
Some times, life works out for people. There's a company called Specialized that makes really good bikes. Last year they were working to make their best one yet. Then they got a call from McLaren, the car company, and apparently they wanted a hobby or something, so they asked if they could please help on a bike. The Specialized engineers took all the stuff they'd done so far, handed it over, and made a wish list of things they couldn't possibly do, eliminating weight and such.
They unveiled the bike to the world a couple of days ago, and said the first couple of their sponsored riders would use it in today's super important one day race in Italy. After 294 kilometers, it came down to a sprint including a guy on the McLaren Venge, and a guy who rode Specialized last year, but switched this year. Hah! The Venge won on the first day it was ever raced.
Some times life doesn't quite work out. This was the last weekend of Biathlon season. Magdalena Nuener had started the season late, but did great once she started racing, so she was in the running to be the big winner for the year. After she won a sprint event Thursday, she was within 22 points, with 2 events to go. No one knew it, but she was already sick with a cold or something before the sprint event, but she won it anyway. Today I was ready to watch, and she called in sick. There might be a chance she'll race tomorrow, but otherwise two days before her off season, in the best shape of her life, she couldn't hang in there to win the year.
Back to my own life. The writers of Fringe continue to mess with my head every week.
Wednesday morning at 8:30 I have my interview for Food Stamps. The documentation I need to bring in is really simple. The theater is on the way home, so however it goes, I'll use one of my free movie passes, and use my MVP card for a free popcorn. Hopefully I'll be celebrating a fresh start.
